Good to see the Liberal Democrats sticking with the winning formula of red-haired, white, male leader. Even Doctor Who changes hair colour when he regenerates. I have nothing against red heads (my daughter may even be one - it's hard to tell, her hair looks a different colour each day so she may be part chameleon), but if I was the Liberals I'd give another hair colour a go, just to see. I am not advising them to take the crazy decision of going for a different sex or race. But branch out a bit. Maybe a white-haired white man next time. If it makes you feel any safer he could have had red hair when he was young.

Phoebe had her first solid bit of food today. It was just some pureed apple, but I thought it would blow her tiny mind. She's only had milk and medicine so far, so a whole new world was about to open up for her. So I got videoing and waited to coin in the millions from the youtube advertising revenue that would come in when she pulled a funny face. But she was not overwhelmed, not even particularly underwhelmed. She just sucked at the spoon, looked mildly and unamusingly confused and swallowed some of the apple, whilst allowing a lot of it to fall out of her face. Didn't she realise what an important step this was in her tiny life? No, she did not. She's in no hurry to get away from the bottle and join the rest of us in the literal smorgasbord that is all the food in the world. She did manage to slam her fist down on the spoon and send some of the apple flying across the table, which I approved of. But I wasn't filming that bit. It's going to be a little while until this interloper pays her board and lodging.

I was extremely tired today. It's been a somewhat full on week. And I had to drive to Cambridge. In fact I was so exhausted that about half an hour from my destination I had to pull off the road for a power nap. 20 minutes of sleep did the trick and I felt fine again after that. But I don't think I've ever had to do that before.

Coffee and chocolate kept me running through the gig (still on a ratio of 10 mins new to 50 mins old in these Happy Now/12 Shows previews) and I got a good reaction from the crowd at the Junction. And the drive home was much easier, until a broken traffic light near to home meant I was stuck for 10 mins waiting for the chance to go the last fifty metres. No one really seemed to know what to do, but a police car turned up and after  a few more minutes the lights were working again and I didn't have to sleep in my car.
