Congrats to the Daily Mail for breaking the news that Richard E Grant (or his people) stopped the release of his RHLSTP back in 2019. I have kept very quiet about this and I don’t know how they finally found out, but I suspect it was 3 years of wearing out shoe leather and proper journalistic skills… oh wait, no, they listened to Emily Dean’s podcast.
Starting to get prepped for the trip to Scotland, which becomes a lot more complex with 2 kids. I got the big car prepped by filling it up with windscreen fluid and pig urine (which is what I believe ad blue actually is) and then checked the tyre pressures. They were all a bit low, but the back right tyre, the one I popped back in January 2021 as a presage of what was about to happen to my own back right tyre (my testicle), was down at 12psi, which was very low. I pumped it up, but suspect that I must have a puncture in that one. What the fuck is going on with my tyres? When will they invent unpoppable tyres (it’s coming soon apparently)? I am taking the car to Kwik-Fit tomorrow to get it checked. I don’t want to pop another tyre on the motorway.
I tried to do a long-ish run in the afternoon, but it was a bit humid and I stopped running at 6km and walked the 2km home. Bit disappointing after successfully managing 10km a couple of times in races, but it’s harder on your own. I still have a few months to build up to the two half Marathons - actually just three months. Should be time to build up to that though. You can sponsor me here to encourage me not to pretend to have picked up an injury.
The kids were both keen to watch the football tonight, and I said they could see the first half. For Ernie it was definitely a way to stay up late and get snacks, but Phoebe was more engaged with it than yesterday and really wanted France to win. I guess I can pretend that they did as she didn’t see the second half. It’s great to see Phoebe inspired by the Lionesses (and not just her - it was wonderful to see the young girl who’d danced at the end of their victory being rewarded with tickets to the final and being so overwhelmed that she couldn’t speak and looked like she might die). The Russo goal is remarkable for another reason. If she’d scored with the first, relatively easy shot, she’d have had a nice boost and everyone would have been happy, but because she missed, she got the chance to create a goal that will be remembered for decades and which will make her a legend. There’s probably some moral there about how success can emerge out of failure. I think that in the end that will prove to be a million pound miss for Russo.
I am hoping that my 25 Edinburgh Fringe failures will lead to a similar success for me this year.

I have started the daunting process of booking guests for the autumn run of RHLSTP. It seems a little trickier this time, but hopefully I can get some good names for you. I am pleased with the couple that I have secured and the one that the PR has told me is doing it, but suddenly they’re asking some weird questions so I think it might fall through. We’ll see.
After slightly disappointing sales for the last series I need to get bums on seats this time (imagine if the Leicester Square Theatre Podcast got bumped from he Leicester Square Theatre!). So book ahead if you can - I won’t let you down. http://richardherring.com/rhlstp. And the Edinburgh Fringe starts a week today. That’s fucking insane.

Today’s RHLSTP is with Kunt and the Gang who you may be surprised to hear with a name like that, might prove to offensive to sensitive ears.
