As mysteriously as it came (not that mysterious, probably to do with being tired) the dizziness has disappeared (probably because I've had a few nights of over 6 hours sleep - so like I said, not mysterious). I took my blood pressure anyway and it was 122/75, which seems basically OK and one reading is meaningless anyway and I forgot to do another one at nighttime. Still £20 well spent.
On the dog walk today I went on a different route to usual and went over the cricket ground (where I have been many times) and saw something glinting in the sun on the ground. It was a plaque which has been there longer than we've lived in the area. It said "This oak tree has been donated by North Hertfordshire district council to commemorate the birth of His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge on 22 July 2015"
The unusual thing is that there is no oak tree near the plaque. Close to it is a little circular patch of greener grass that might possibly indicate where an oak tree once was. But if there ever was an oak tree it has gone, or it failed to grow from its acorn and yet no one has either taken the plaque away or thought to replace the oak tree. As a result there's this somehow slightly sinister reminder of an attempt to honour a baby, which didn't work out, but which no one could be arsed to do anything about. Which seems a lot worse than not even trying to honour a baby.
It feels like a bad omen for George and if anything negative ever happens to him I will be blaming North Hertfordshire district council. To be fair they are to blame for most of the bad things that happen to me. Especially when our bins aren't emptied. And definitely for our kids not being able to go to the school in our own village with all their friends. I hope the district council will be executed for treason. And if failing to plant or maintain an oak tree is not treasonous then I don't know what is. What if Prince George one day sees that sign and wonders where his fucking oak tree is? He could be king by then. He could nuclear bomb North Hertfordshire out of existence.
Think on NHDC.
Personally I think if they're planting oak trees for one baby they should do them for all the babies, so I am glad there is no oak tree. But if you're going to plant an oak tree for a baby then you have to see the thing through. Or at least dig up the plaque showing your obsequious support for an infant that has happened to slide out of the right birth canal.
Not since Ozymandius has there been such a potent representation of hubris. Yet it's going to be us that suffers for this when North Herts is a radioactive wasteland.
