It’s weird to watch a country have a mental breakdown and would be entertaining if it wasn’t so horrifying and if the rest of the world wasn’t in danger from the (literal) fall out. But the terrifying and appalling act of madness that resulted in over 500 innocent people being shot with machine guns is almost equalled by the fact that America allows people to own machine guns and that a significant proportion of people who live there think this is OK. Even after today. And yesterday. And the day before. Even though they are all at risk from the next madman or terrorist who builds upon this idea. And so-called Islamic State (or as I call them SCIS) must both be embarrassed and delighted by what has been happening. Their lone-wolf guys never do anything as “successful” as this, which is embarrassing after all the training and planning, but then again it turns out they don’t need to because Americans are better at hurting Americans than they will ever be.
It seems perfectly obvious to the rest of the world that gun control is part of the answer. But it’s easy to see madness when you’re looking at it from outside. No one needs machine guns for their daily lives and the constitution was written in a time before anyone could have predicted what guns would become. It’s great having a set of rule to help you live your life by, but once they become unadaptable to changing situations then you ironically get SCIS and gun nuts.
It’s hard to see anything that will change Americans minds if the cold-bloodied murder of tiny school children didn’t. The thing about moving to a new world to escape the old and all the dicks in it, is that eventually the dicks catch up with you and you have to move again.
Maybe we need Trump to snap the already broken America over his knee so they can start again. The country was a beautiful souffle that is about to collapse. Top marks again go to Putin for spotting the way to pull this place apart.
And why are they so scared of terrorists when they should be so much more scared of each other?

I hope there is a world for my son to be born into, just so I can ask, what kind of world is this to be born in? He hasn’t popped out yet, and if he’s got any sense at all he’ll stay where he is. But he’s a human and thus an idiot and he’ll be along pretty soon to enjoy this crazy ride.

I am only glad that the world lasted long enough to see the complete series of AIOTM (although there’s a few stop frame animation sketches still to come). Here’s the final episode (and I can’t imagine that we will ever do any more). And you can catch up on the rest of them here.
It’s been an interesting experiment with more success than failure and some amazing work on an incredibly tight budget from a brilliant team. It would have been nice to have the time and money to do something that was a bit less ramshackle. But then again, it’s the ramshackle nature of AIOTM that is its selling point. Thanks so much to all the people who had faith enough to donate the money to make this happen. We will never do something as stupid again. Until we forget how difficult it was.
